Thank you for using Youtube No HUD. This page provides setup instructions, troubleshooting steps, and answers to common questions.

Getting Started

  1. Install Youtube No HUD from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Navigate to any YouTube video page (e.g. youtube.com/watch?v=...).
  3. Press Shift + X to toggle HUD cleaning ON or OFF.
  4. Alternatively, click the extension icon in your browser toolbar to access preferences.

Keyboard Shortcut System

By default, pressing Shift + X instantly toggles HUD cleaning. You can easily record a custom shortcut:

  1. Click the Youtube No HUD icon in your browser toolbar.
  2. Click [ Change ] next to Keyboard Shortcut.
  3. Press your desired key combination (e.g., Ctrl + Alt + H, Alt + H).
  4. Click [ Save ].
  5. To restore the original shortcut, click [ Reset to Default ].

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Youtube No HUD alter actual video pixels?

No. The extension only hides HTML player controls and overlays. It does not crop, blur, recolor, or modify video stream pixels in any way.

Does the extension hide YouTube webpage elements outside the player?

No. Webpage elements outside the video player (such as the YouTube search header, channel name, subscribe button, video title, description, comments, and recommended sidebar) remain 100% visible and interactive.

How do mode settings work?

You can independently enable or disable HUD cleaning for Non-Theater Mode, Theater Mode, and Fullscreen Mode inside the extension popup.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • HUD controls re-appearing after page navigation: Verify that HUD cleaning is active (press Shift + X to check the status toast notification).
  • Extension not responding: Reload the YouTube video tab after initial installation or update.
  • Conflicting extensions: Disable other YouTube player modification extensions if UI conflicts occur.
  • Reset settings: Open the extension popup and click Reset to Default to restore default configurations.
